Selection campaign launch
Today I launched my campaign to be selected as Labour's general election candidate for Putney. I passionately and genuinely believe that Labour can regain the constituency - but only with the right candidate.I am that candidate. I have the local roots as a life-long borough resident, the experience of defeating Putney's brand of right-wing Conservatives as a local councillor for eight years and Leader of the borough's Labour councillors, and the commitment as a Labour Party member for twenty years, a campaigner who worked hard to re-elect Tony Colman twice, and as an active trade unionist.
The selection process runs through to a selection hustings meeting of all Labour Party members in Putney, Roehampton and Southfields on 10th June. In the weeks until then, I'll be out and about calling on members, talking about my plans to win, asking for ideas and meeting up with the many friends I have built over the years in Putney Labour Party.
To start off, I've mailed out my application CV to everyone in the party today.
